Labor Day love

Surely a summer highlight was attending the opening night for artist and friend Gabrielle Lundy whose textile collage was shown at Chelsea's Viridian Artists juried exhibition in mid-July.  She flew in from Seattle to participate in the show upon learning her work had been included.

Changing Hands, Stitching Stories is crafted from multiple up-cycled fabrics collected by the artist and mounted on an old picket fence.

Gay has been creating textile collage and mixed media assemblage for over three decades now in spite of being diagnosed with severe rheumatoid arthritis.

A self-taught contemporary maker who has lived all over the world, she celebrates everyday materials through exuberant color and design.

Labor Day love goes to this true labor of love!
