head to toe

two weeks ago, i finally made it to the Alexander McQueen show at the MET.
it was as stunning as everyone has said and i am still absorbing all that i saw.

i loved the 'curiosities' room, cabinets full of imaginative and provocative headpieces, footwear and jewelry in addition to all the intricately executed apparel.

the red butterfly hat was amazing. it was created by Philip Treacy for McQueen in a tribute to the iconic magazine editor Isabella Blow, who discovered both designers.

the plain canvas dress spattered with paint from two 'robots' was also awesome to me.

the armadillo boot made everybody in the room smile - resin and paillettes tell the story! so does Gaga!

at the end of the day, i am more ballerina flats speed myself, granted the printed floral hearts are a far cry from the dried flowers hand sewn to a McQueen gown!

and i am happy to have just read that flats for evening are in for fall!   check out what the pros have to say on http://www.netaporter.com/. i have my eye on the black ones by Chloe with t straps and crystal bows!

all hail McQueen but long live the ballerina flat!

dog daze

.

the dog days of Summer are here.
if there is any doubt, just ask this statuesque Poodle, King of the city jungle by any standard, i would say....

i spotted him standing guard with the lion in his own private Paradise...
i would like to meet the rest of the crowd he hangs out with... cool Nolita street artists, no doubt.....

happy Fourth of July from the big bold city! fireworks update, later....!
the boats are gathering along the Hudson as we speak!
