RAMONA in the HOUSE
"Knitting is the new yoga," fashion obsessed designer Lau Almeida says of RAMONA HOUSE classes initiated as an expansion of the knitwear brand she founded in 2009. Over 50 women come each week from her native Montevideo to participate in the sessions, not just for the meditative benefits of knitting but also to relax, find a warm, welcoming place and share a cup of sweet tea...

RAMONA is named after Lau's grandmother, from whom Lau inherited her childhood hobby as the starting off point for her design career and mission.
Lau's vision is expansive, embracing both ancient techniques and contemporary lifestyle. "Each piece is carefully crafted from soft Merino wool or from cotton... An estimated 20 to 45 hours of handmade work is required to create each piece, all made with love by Uruguayan artisans."
