Pea Soup

Khaki green, army green, pea green, the season's go to surplus jacket looks anything but uniform!

Not planning on having a Fall military moment?  No worries.

Rumor has it, we will be seeing a "dressier" version by Spring!

A Ferrari in Firenze

Annalisa Ferrari is off to Florence again for her A.Ferrari Kitchen October cooking tour schedule.

It was such an amazing time in April under her wing and in her kitchens all over Tuscany.

I miss the fun, food and friends made!

And the shopping!

theater goer

i attended This is Our Youth last weekend.

here is a a young woman picking up her ticket for the show.
i loved her wool hat and chic swing capelet.

it was in the mid 70's outside so her choices intrigued me.
maybe it is just that truism that once we get past Labor Day, we must wear new Fall clothes!

i really loved her shiny oxfords, too...

introducing fashion fix: a monthly designer q&a: September: Jaga Buyan

For Mongolian born, Los Angeles based Jaga Buyan, design is a quiet, inner, painterly process that does not require many words for her to describe:

Q: Where does your inspiration come from?

A: Mongolia.

Mongolian script

Q: What is your favorite piece in the new Spring '15 collection?

A: I like this one.

bronze cat, sleeveless v crop top...

Q: Why the cat?

A: I like cats.

Jaga also likes horses:

painted horse, scoop t-shirt..

and pockets:

back pocket, painted linen pants...

patch pockets, sheer tunic...

and pleats:

back pleat, linen tunic...

elastic waist, pleated cotton, linen maxi skirt...

and the color blue to accent the predominantly black and white linen and silk pieces in her hand painted, new Jaga / Duuya collections, at once relaxed and avant-garde, casual and couture.

Sometimes, a desert rose or nude tone makes an appearance.

Silhouettes play off of one another in combinations of the wearer's choosing:  loose shirts with rolled cuffs, boyfriend jackets with notched lapels, skinny leggings with panel insets, drape tops with gentle gathers...

details, Jaga/Duuya Spring/Summer 2015

Life is but a dream...

some additional threads to the story:

Jaga Buyan is hand crafted and hand painted in Los Angeles, California.
Duuya is the hand painted silk 'sister' to the Jaga line - dresses, tops, skirts and scarves.

Ogi Buyan, Jaga's true sister, lives in Queens, New York and participates in showroom sales and distribution of both collections.
